Sangamam Thaala Utsav:A Two-Day Showcase of India’s Artistic Heritage

Thaala Utsav 2025 by Sangamam, an initiative of The Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives (SFPI), brought together the vast and vibrant world of Indian music, rhythm and performing arts in a spectacular two-day festival. The festival took audiences on a journey into the heart of India’s musical and cultural heritage, offering a space where art was not just witnessed but deeply experienced. It was a celebration of the timeless language of rhythm that brought together maestros, emerging artists, learners, and art lovers under one inclusive cultural umbrella. The festival honoured India’s rich traditions—from classical to folk, from ancient ritualistic forms to innovative contemporary expressions—creating a tapestry of performances that resonated with audiences of all ages.

Inaugurated by Ambassador Nirupama Rao Menon, the Utsav welcomed over 2,500 art lovers and featured more than 120 artists, making the first festival of Sangamam a remarkable success.

Audiences were treated to an extraordinary lineup of renowned performers, including Soorya Gayathri, , Pt. Dr. Pravin Godkhindi & Shadaj Godkhindi, Ranjani & Gayatri and the contemporary Carnatic band Agam. Alongside these stellar acts, the festival showcased rare and powerful traditional artforms such as Koodiyattam, Ranga Geethe, Sattriya, and many others, presenting a rich diversity of Indian artistic traditions.

Sangamam Thaala Utsav also offered immersive learning experiences through workshops on intuitive music exploration, leather puppetry, Dhrupad, and folk arts, inviting participants to engage directly with India’s cultural legacy. Adding to the festive spirit were curated stalls featuring handicrafts, sustainable products, and thoughtfully designed food stalls that offered local flavours.

With its blend of performances, workshops, crafts, and community, Sangamam Thaala Utsav 2025 offered something meaningful for everyone, celebrating the timeless rhythm that connects us all.
